The Sims 4 Werewolves: How to Become a Werewolf
How does my Sim become a werewolf in The Sims 4? The Sims 4 Werewolves is the latest in a long line of supernatural-themed game packs for The Sims 4, and for my money, it might just be the best of the lot. Becoming a werewolf brings a host of cool perks and unique interactions that are well worth checking out. If you’ve ever wanted your Sim to be able to urinate freely all over the world or literally eat every piece of furniture in their house, Lycanthropy is definitely for you.
The Sims 4 generally gives you a few different paths to occult transformation, and becoming a werewolf is no exception. Below, we’ll outline all the different methods you can use to turn your playable Sims into werewolves.
How to become a werewolf in The Sims 4: all the ways
There are three legitimate paths to becoming a werewolf in The Sims 4, as well as a cheating way to get there. We’ll cover them all in detail below, along with a few different methods to cure your Sim of the Curse of Lycanthropy, in case it turns out the Life Lupine isn’t actually for them.
Just a quick reminder that, as always, certain exclusions apply. Namely, Sims who already possess a permanent occult state of life (vampire, mermaid, ghost, robot servo, spellcaster, or alien) cannot become a werewolf without first renouncing their former supernatural affiliation and all its associated powers. There are also age-based restrictions when it comes to lycanthropy in the Sim world, but we’ll cover those as we go in the sections below.
Method 1: Have a werewolf bite you to pass the curse
Obviously this is the most exciting (unless you’re a super fan of WooHooing a werewolf for making fluffy little werebabies, in which case hey, no judgment here; just scroll down a few sections and you’ll find this which you need). There are actually two different ways to pass on the Lupine Bite Curse in The Sims 4. Basically, they can be categorized as deliberate and accidental.
Deliberately getting bitten by a werewolf involves befriending a werewolf Sim who has unlocked the Cursed Bite ability and using the Ask for Cursed Bite social interaction on them. If they like your Sim enough, they will agree, in which case your character will receive an energized mood and begin the transformation process over a few in-game days. Note that Sims who perform the Request Cursed Bite interaction will not be recognized by gambling as suffering from Werebies (see below).
Accidental werewolf bites are also possible, either because your Sim strayed too close to a rampaging werewolf with the Cursed Bite ability and was attacked, or as part of the mini-game. text-adventure type exploration that you can play while exploring the network of tunnels at Moonwood Mill. This results in the charmingly named Werebies infection, which results in an uncomfortable mood lasting for a few days as the transformation takes hold.
Since you, the player, might really not have wanted this accidental bite to happen, Sims with Werebies can prevent full lycanthropy from appearing. There are a few home remedies available – the infected Sim can “try sweating out the Werebies” on a bed or “trying to clean themselves of the Werebies” in the shower – but it’s unclear if these can ever affect a full recovery, or simply delay the spread of infection for a while while you seek appropriate help.
To permanently rid your Sim of the Werebies before it’s too late, go to the Grimtooth Bar in Moonwood Mill and ask the bartender directly (as in, click on her, not the bar) for the Werebies cure to stop the curse . Note that this must be done before the Werebies moodlet expires, at which point the werewolf is in full effect and it’s too late for the cure; and also that this cure is not available to Sims who have been bitten by a friendly werewolf consensually.
Whatever the cause of the cursed bite, it can only be administered to teenage or older Sims, by a teenage or older werewolf. However, unlike romantic interactions that lock intimate activities between teens and young adults/adults/elders, teens can bite or be bitten by members of adult life stages and vice versa.
Method 2: Create a Werewolf in Create-A-Sim
The easiest way to get yourself a Werewolf Sim is to create one in Create-A-Sim. It’s pretty simple and works just like creating any other occult type in The Sims 4. Just go to CAS and in the panel at the bottom of the screen select Add Sim > Add Occult Sim > Add Werewolf. Just keep in mind that in TS4 you can’t change a character’s life state once you’ve started creating it, and the new default character in CAS will always be a vanilla human; so you’ll have to manually create another new character and specify it as a werewolf before you can start. You can then choose the default human Sim or make it your werewolf’s roommate, whichever suits you.
Just know that you’ll probably want to spend years in Create-A-Sim when it comes time to create a new werewolf. In my estimation, werewolves have more customization options than any other character type in The Sims 4: whether it’s a regular Sim, an animal, or an occult type. Basically, Create-A-Sim for Werewolves includes full customization of a Human Sim form and an exclusive Occult Beast form, and that beast form itself can be fully customized with branding options. coats from the Cats & Dogs expansion. There is a lot to do.
You can use CAS to create a Werewolf Sim of any life stage, starting as a toddler, but as is common practice in the Sims universe, their full suite of powers (including including your ability to customize their beast form) will remain dormant until they reach their teenage years. . Which means that one day soon, your beleaguered Sim parents are going to have to deal with their child going through human and lycanthrope puberty at the same time. Better them than us, I suppose.
Method 3: WooHoo with a werewolf to create your own litter
Again, it’s pretty simple, although it won’t result in instant lupine gratification. (Except for… well, you know.) An ordinary human Sim who starts a biological family with a werewolf has a 50% chance of having a baby werewolf. The odds go up to 100% if both biological parents are werewolves.
So if you’re looking to create a new generation of werewolves as part of an existing household in a save, you can have your active Sim get romantic with one of the prefab werewolves in Moonwood Mill. As long as one potential parent has the ability to get pregnant and the other has the complementary ability to get the others pregnant, having a high enough romance will eventually unlock the Try For Baby romantic social option on n any terrain where there’s a handy WooHoo spot close at hand. The chance of conception in The Sims 4 is set at 80%, so it shouldn’t take too many tries until you anticipate the crackle of little paws.
You can, of course, invite your new lupine lover to move into your Sim’s home as a spouse or partner, but that’s purely optional. Just be aware that whichever Sim gives birth, they receive the new baby in their default household, though you can manage households to take full custody of them if you wish.
Your literal furry baby will be a werewolf from birth, but like any young lycanthrope created in CAS, he won’t have full access to werewolf abilities until he becomes a teenager.
Method 4: Cheating
Of course, this is The Sims, where you almost never have to do things the hard way if there’s a cheat available instead. To instantly turn your vanilla Human Sim into a Werewolf, first make sure you have them selected as an active character in Live Mode. Enable hints, then type traits.equip_trait trait_occultwerewolf in the text bar for instant lycanthropification.
You can reverse the curse just as easily using the opposite cheat: traits.remove_trait trait_occultwerewolf.
How to Stop Being a Werewolf in The Sims 4
You’re not entirely stuck as a werewolf in The Sims 4 if you miss your window to take the Werebies cure. You don’t even need to use cheats to undo the curse. The option of a cure is just a bit hidden and requires you to do some preparatory work.
The Sims 4 Werewolves introduces a new aspiration category simply titled Werewolf. At first, your Sim will only have access to the Werewolf Initiate aspiration. However, once they have completed this Aspiration, you will automatically be prompted to choose one of four newly unlocked Aspirations that flow directly from it. These give you different choices for how your Sim copes with their long-term Moon Condition. One of them is called Cure Seeker, and completing all of its objectives will allow your Werewolf Sim to craft and drink the Wolf-B-Gone potion to return to a normal human state.
