The Sims 4 patch adds the lunar cycle to the game
The Sims 4 Werewolves Game Pack will be released on June 16. As every time there is a major version of the pack for The Sims 4, the base game has been updated to reflect the latest Supernatural game pack. With that The Sims 4 patch, Lunar Cycles is the biggest addition, with different moon phases, varied moon lighting, and new interactions for your Sims. That’s not all; also with the latest The Sims 4 patch is a newly designed telescope object, a much smaller variation of the large observatory object (and which has also been updated). There’s even more coming with this patch, so read on to find out.
With a werewolf game pack, what is The Sims 4 need this? A lunar cycle. With the addition of this The Sims 4 patch, moon cycles will affect the behavior of werewolves, but it will do much more than that.
After downloading this patch, you will notice that the lighting may be different at night. It depends on the phase in which the lunar cycle is. This can be seen in almost every world of The Sims 4 (with the exception of certain locations, including the Magic Realm of The Sims 4 Realm of Magic game pack).
The moon will have an effect on your Sim, depending on their age, occult, and moon phase. Your Sims will get a gameplay bonus depending on the phase. Hovering over the moon icon in the bottom center of the screen will tell you what the current phase of the moon is. Also, if you want to know when the next full moon will be, you can check the calendar.
Occult Sims (not just werewolves) will be affected by the moon, depending on the phase. For example, mermaids will lose less hydration, vampires will recharge their powers more slowly, and spellcasters will be more successful at casting spells. There’s also a new interaction for aliens (and other teenage and older Sims): Moonbaths. Aliens will receive a special mood for performing this action.
Toddlers also have special interactions with the moon. They can ask questions about the phases of the moon. They can even say goodnight to the moon! Saying goodnight to the moon gives them a special effect. They will have lunar dreams, which vary depending on the current phase.
There are 8 phases that the moon will go through, which are:
- New Moon
- shoe polish crescent
- first quarter
- Waxing Gibber
- Full moon
- Waning gibbous moon
- Third quarter
- Ascending descending
By default, the phase of the moon will change every night. However, if you wish, you can change the duration of the phases in the game settings. The durations in days are 2, 4, 8 (default), 16 and 24. It is also possible to make a phase permanent. Also, you can turn off moon effects. To find the lunar cycle settings, go to the Environment section of the Options menu.
New updated telescope and observatory
With the most recent The Sims 4 patch, the added lunar cycles mean your Sims will likely want to study the moon up close. To do this, they can use the observatory from the base game, which has updated interactions, or they can use the brand new telescope item. It is a scaled down version of the much larger observatory. The Sims 4 Werewolves will get a second variant of the telescope, but those who don’t get the Game Pack won’t miss this new base game item.
With the new telescope, most observatory interactions can be used, except for a few obvious ones like WooHoo. You also won’t be able to get space footprints like you did with the observatory with the telescope.
You should know that if you use the telescope at night, beware of falling meteorites. There’s a new death in The Sims 4: death by meteorite!
The old observatory has not been neglected. You can now get 10 new Moon Footprints.
Updates to Create a Sim
There are a few new Create-A-Sim additions added with this patch. For starters, there’s a new beard to check out.
The next addition is for the base game update that arrived back then The Sims 4 My Wedding Stories came out of. Two of the wedding dresses from the base game have been updated with new color variations, including the rainbow. These dresses have been updated again with more rainbow variations, each affecting different parts of the dresses.
Staying on the subject of My Marriage Stories update, another item added in the base game then was the wedding hijab with veil. Now you can get the hijab minus the veil.
New wall pattern and terrain painting in Build Mode
There are more things to find in Build Mode. There is a new base game wall pattern: The Brickery Elite – Caution. This completes the wall pattern from the original base game, The Brickery Elite.
There are also two new base playground paints, one with tiny rocks and another with pine.
Scenario UI Update
Scenarios are a relatively new addition to The Sims 4. With this patch, the user interface has been updated with some improvements for scenarios. If you are a brand new player to The Sims 4, you will get a welcome screen for scenarios in the main menu. The Scenarios menu has a new tile system that shows where to start and possible endings. Scenario recommendations will also be displayed. Time-limited scenarios will also be displayed at the top of the screen. Also, when playing a scenario, the tab will better display the actions you need to do.
This plant was originally included in The Sims 4 Vampires Game Pack, but this patch means you can also find it in Moonwood Mills, the new world coming with werewolves. You can also get it through tricks and random rewards.
Along with new items and interactions, this patch also includes the usual bug fixes for The Sims 4. Specifically, it fixes issues seen in the base game, Snowy getaway Expansion, spa day game pack, realm of magic, dream home decoratorand My Marriage Stories.
That pretty much sums up the latest patch for The Sims 4in preparation for the werewolves Game Pack, which will be released on June 16 on PC, Mac, PlayStation consoles and Xbox consoles.
