The Sims 4: How to Move Houses

Moving can have several meanings in The Sims 4, as players can either move the land and the house their family lives in, or simply move the household. Each procedure has several methods to perform associated with various options, which Simmers can modify according to their preferences. Keep in mind that there are restrictions and prohibited actions in each procedure.


Moving houses in The Sims 4 usually requires a specific amount of Simoleons if players replace the old house with a larger one. Not to mention that they can save money by moving in with another family, sharing the same house.

How to Move Houses in The Sims 4

There are three meanings to move into The Sims 4; Change the location of the house, reposition the house and move the household.

Change home location

To change the location of the house, enter Build Mode and select the Save to My Library option in the top center screen (shaped like a folder with an arrow). After that, go to Menu, Manage Worlds, Gallery, select the saved house and choose a lot to place it on.

The plot must be exactly the same size as the house, so for example, if it is 20×15, the plot must be 20×15. It may be bigger, but it will give players plenty of extra space. Simmers can also replace an unoccupied house with the saved land. Reposition the house

Move the household

There are several ways to move a family in The Sims 4:

  • Go to the Manage Worlds menu and click on the desired household. Next, click on the More (…) option and choose Move household then select another house or empty lot.

  • Using any Sim’s phone in the bottom left corner, click on the Travel category, then select Move Home.

  • From the Manage World menu, select the Manage Households option in the top right corner. This menu displays all families that Simmers have created or played in the current world. Select the desired household and place it in the desired lot or house.
