“When we introduced the Sims Metal Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan in 2021, we made it clear that we wanted to build and strengthen mutually beneficial relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders and organizations,” said Alistair Field, CEO of Sims Limited. “In FY21, we spent more than $1 million AUD with Indigenous-owned businesses, and with the help of Supply Nation, we will make great strides in deepening our relationships with those businesses and communities and strengthening our commitment to those businesses and communities. »

President and CEO of Supply Nation, Laura Berrysaid “We are delighted to welcome Sims Limited to the Supply Nation community, and look forward to working with them to grow their supplier diversity footprint. The measure of our collective success will be in the value of transactions between Sims Limited and aboriginal businesses.
Sims Metal has a long-standing relationship with Yurra Pty Ltd, a Supply Nation registered business founded in 2013 which provides industrial fabrication and cleaning services to the company through Western Australia. Yurra is majority-owned by the Yindjibarndi people, and Sims Metal has incorporated Yurra employees into its rail recycling teams in the Pilbarra.
