Sims 5 – EA hints at Sims 4 sequel possibilities
The following sims game – likely to be The Sims 5 – was teased, with EA confirming that it is in development.
The Sims 4 came out nearly seven years ago, so it’s no surprise that a sequel is in the works. And Laura Miele, Director of Studios at EA, chatted with Geoff Keighley at VentureBeatThe GamesBeat Summit 2021 event about fostering creativity with the “next generation” of the franchise.
It’s worth noting that there could be a bigger social and online component to the authoring experience.

“We will build on the tools for people to play with life – that’s our brand, simulation – and the idea that people can play with life together,” she said.
“We have had The Sims Online which came out in 2002, which I can’t believe, and we were definitely ahead of our time.
“And I think 20 years later we’ve learned a lot about how players interact, what drives players and how players can come together in co-op, and so, as you can imagine, as we thinking about the next generation of The Simsit’s super important for us to have the best tools, the most flexibility, and for players to really develop their creativity [and] remix objects and objects in the world.
“And then to do it together. I think that’s one of our biggest opportunities with The Sims – the social link component that we must bring to this brand and this franchise. The team is working hard on the next generation of this experience.”
Miele went on to say that the development team is focused on creating an experience that will allow fans to collaborate and share their creations with each other.
“What we’re weaponizing them with, what capabilities and frameworks we’re weaponizing them with and where they’re taking that, I think it’s going to be a pretty big surprise and a pretty exciting time for us as we bring these tools and these platforms in the market,” she said.
It looks like an extension on The Sims 4the popular gallery feature, where players can upload their created Sims and builds.
Although it is in development, the release of the next sims the game might take a while. Late last year, producer Graham Nardone said “players are very hungry for more content” for The Sims 4.
A new Game Pack and Kit are should be announced this month.
The Sims 4 is available on PC, Mac, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
