Well, that’s a bit embarrassing. After all the commotion The Sims 4 community sparked by Electronic Arts not publishing the My Marriage Stories game pack in Russia, it turns out the expansion is too broken for players to enjoy. Some the banners are even advising fans to avoid purchasing the game bundle until EA releases a major patch.

Over the past few weeks, the sims The community has been embroiled in a controversy over the Russian version of the marriage-based expansion. My Marriage Stories is a game pack, consider a medium sized DLC for The Sims 4, expands on the existing wedding mechanics in the game with new decor, furniture, wedding preparation gameplay. Originally, EA decided do not give up My Marriage Stories in Russia due to its homophobic laws surrounding queer content. after the community negative reaction decision-making, including boycotts of sims influencers, the publisher reversed its decision. He promised that all versions of My Marriage Stories would be released on February 23, but with different art for Russian players that removed the lesbian partners featured in promotional material.

That might have been too optimistic about a release date. Players reported their Sims took strange paths walking down the aisle, guests did not follow the wedding dress codemany marriage commands were not workingand participants engaged in conversations inappropriate times. The Sims would even start doing pumps in the aisle or literally dead between of the ceremony. A content creator called the new expansion “unplayable” and informed fans refrain from buying it. First impressions fans already gone concerning on bugs, which were mostly blamed on bad AI. To make matters worse, players noted that the expansion would replace normal marriages in the base version of The Sims 4.

An EA Community Manager confirmed fixes would happen behind the scenes, but there are no patch notes for My Wedding Stories So Far. Kotaku contacted EA to inquire whether or not a fix would be available, but did not receive a response as of press time.

There’s a silver lining to all of this: The Sims 4 has some of the most chaotic marriages I’ve ever seen in a video game. And the player-generated content is flawless, even if the actual AI isn’t.
