Sims 4 game not saving or showing “error code 0”? You’re not alone

Here is the gist of the article in video form:

New updates are added at the bottom of this story…….

The original story (published March 19, 2022) follows:

Released in 2014, The Sims 4 is a social simulation game developed by Maxis and published by Electronic Arts. As the number suggests, this is the fourth installment in the decades-old series.

Since its release, the developers have added a lot of content to the game. It is also improving in key areas such as character creation and a new personality system.

But as is the case with all EA titles, gamers are no strangers when it comes to bugs and glitches. A few weeks ago, after the release of the My Wedding Stories expansion pack, many complained that weddings weren’t working or were broken.

That said, Sims 4 players are now reporting (1,2,3,4,5) that they cannot save the game and they receive error code 0. It seems that the problem appeared after a recent update.

Many say they lost hours of progress because of the issue. Gamers are frustrated and wondering how EA manages to break basic features like the ability to save games.

You can see in the image below what Sims 4 error code 0 looks like.

I hadn’t played in forever so I was playing for about 6 hours straight and when I tried to save it I said I couldn’t (error message 0). some files around (following idk googles advice) there was nothing there. advices?

Game does not save, error code 0 on a single save (SIMS4)
I created a new backup a few days ago and it stopped backing up yesterday. I was able to back it up using save as, but I’m tired of having to do this all the time and don’t want a million copies of the same backup piling up. This only happens with this particular save (no matter how many times I save), the others are fine. I restarted origin, the sims and my computer (I’m on a macbook pro) but nothing worked. I also tried to repair the game

Thankfully, EA commented on the issue and said the issue is currently under investigation.

@OreoPrince050113 Unfortunately, the team is struggling to understand how the savegames got to this corrupted state. The investigation is ongoing. Were you playing with wedding cakes before the problem arose? If yes, on which lot(s) did you get the wedding cake(s)?

We hope the developers find out the root cause of the problem soon and fix it as soon as possible as it makes the game unplayable for those affected. If and when they do, we’ll update this space to reflect the same, so be sure to stay tuned.

Update 1 (March 21)

1:10 p.m. (IST): One of the affected players has suggested a workaround that may resolve this issue. If you still have this problem, you can try.

Workaround:

To save the game, just SAVE, leave it in error, then delete the original file and save again. For me, it works every time. (Source)

Update 2 (March 22)

11:30 a.m. (IST): A player claims that they may have found a potential reason for the “Error” 0 issue in the game. Here’s what they have to say:

Hello team! I may have found a clue for error 0, tried to figure out where it’s coming from and noticed that it’s every time or almost every time I put something of my library or my gallery in my world! Hey, hope this helps you guys, have a great day everyone if you’re on the sims team. (Source)
