Sims 4 Custom Content: New App Will Change How You Manage CC

If you’ve been playing with mods or custom content in The Sims 4, you’re in for update day hell, especially if you’ve been playing the game for a long time.

As your mod folder grows, the risk of custom content breaking or things becoming unmanageable also increases. There are already a few tools like The Sims 4 Tray Importer and Sims Mod Assistant which make finding broken CCs much easier.

Currently, however, the general content management process is somewhat cumbersome. This is all about to change thanks to a new tool recently released on Mod The Sims.

Simply called Sims 4 Mod Manager, and still in an early stage of development, it already has the potential to save hours of time, by making it easier and faster to quickly remove custom content you no longer want.

As someone who has already reached levels of frustration such as deleting the entire Sims 4 Mods folder and rebooting, this app will be a lifesaver. Filters make it super easy to find what you’re looking for, whether it’s a Create a Sim item or something else.

The screenshot below shows an overview of some filtering options available to easily manage custom content in The Sims 4.

The Sims 4 Mod/CC Manager also makes it easy to activate and deactivate Sims 4 custom content and mods from one central location, rather than having to move items in and out of your Mods folder. While it works best if you already have a structured system in place, filters will save your sanity if your current system follows the chameleon on a Rubik’s Cube approach.

We’ve tested both removing content and enabling and disabling some custom content, and both work like a treat.

That said, as the developer noted, the only way to improve is for players to test it and offer feedback. According to the official notes on Mod The Sims:

The program is still very new and has not been tested by many users. Therefore, I would be very grateful for feedback, bug reports and ideas to improve the app.

Future plans for the Sims 4 Mod/CC Manager include the ability to easily find broken or duplicate custom content as well as a filter for catalog items – which is already in development.
