The Sims 4 has lots of fun details and secrets to discover every time you play. One of the most elusive is becoming a Plant Sim.
If you’re running out of fun things to do in the base game, becoming a Plant Sim is a fun experience to try if you haven’t already. You don’t even need paid DLC to do this. Becoming a Plant Sim requires following a few different steps that aren’t immediately clear, so we’ve put together a guide on what you can expect when performing this nature-themed makeover.
9 Plant Sims has been in previous games in the series
There are many fun features and ideas from previous versions that have yet to be released in The Sims 4, but Plant Sims is not one of them. They’ve been in every major episode of the series, since The Sims: Makin’ Magic, where you could be transformed into one by using the Beauty Or Beast charm. In The Sims 2: Seasons, you could become a Plant Sim by using too many pesticides on your crops. In The Sims 3: College Life, you can become a Plant Sim by eating forbidden fruit or participating in science experiments.
As for The Sims 4, Plant Sims was introduced in 2017 during a limited-time Plant Sim Challenge. You had to get Magic Beans from Plant Sims. You then called Jasmine Holiday to follow the magic steps in order to receive a The forbidden fruit. This fruit would allow your Sim to transform into a Plant Sim. Although the challenge only lasted a limited time, it is still possible to perform similar steps.
8 You must be a level 10 gardener
Gardening is a great skill for your Sim in general, but it’s also vital if you want to become a Plant Sim. Focus on your gardening skills to reach level 10. Once you do, you will unlock Rare plant seedswhich you can get from Build Mode. They cost 1,000 Simoleons and are needed to access the Magic Beans you need to become a Plant Sim.
If you don’t have time to get to the level 10 gardening skill, there are always ways to speed up the process by cheating a bit. Simultaneously press CTRL, SHIFT and C and type: true cheat test. After that, you can enter: stats.set_skill_level_Major_Gardening 10. This will level you up and allow you to purchase the seeds right away.
7 First you need to plant a mystical magic beanstalk portal tree
the Rare plant seeds will give you a random assortment of seeds, so you’ll need to buy several to get all the magic beans you need. If you can’t afford the rare plant seeds, maybe use the classic money cheat mother lode to buy more.
There are six magic beans to find:
- angry red bean
- purple playful bean
- navy sad bean
- Orange uncomfortable bean
- Flirty Pink Bean
- Confident blue bean
Once you have them all, go to Build Mode and buy one. Magic plant simulation strain for 410 simoleons. Plant the stump and put the six beans. Then, water the stump once, and a giant Mystical Beanstalk Portal Tree (yes, that’s his real name) will instantly spring up from the ground.
6 You will need to find the Sim Plant Forbidden Fruit
Once a day after 10:00 a.m., you can walk through the Mystical Beanstalk Portal Tree enter and be teleported to a distant magical land. Enter this portal, as you have to find there the forbidden fruit of the Sim plant.
Once your adventure is complete, you’ll get a little pop-up text detailing what your Sim has been up to in this magical world. It’s a fun and mysterious scenario to play, but it won’t give you the fruit every time you enter it. You may have to go to the tree multiple times to get the Sim Plant Forbidden Fruit. Keep trying until you do.
5 It’s a good idea to plant your first forbidden fruit
You can eat the forbidden fruit right away and instantly become a Plant Sim. But since it is a rare fruit, you better plant the first one you find. As with all plants, you will be able to water, feed and fertilize the tree to aid in the growth process. It will take about four days to become a forbidden fruit tree. Once it reaches full maturity, you can reap quite a few forbidden fruits.
You will have a a convenient supply of even more forbidden fruit for future use, and might even earn extra money selling the fruits.
4 Plant Sims Have Unique Needs
Eating the Forbidden Fruit will instantly modify your Sim, turning them green and sometimes causing leaves to grow from their bodies. This change is not just cosmetic. You will have different needs to meet. for you are now in a new state of life. Beginners to the series will quickly learn just how vital needs are to your Sims, from tracking hunger to their hygiene. This is always true in Plant Sim Form.
A need for water will replace your need for a bladder. You will no longer need to use the bathroombut you need to make sure your Sim is regularly hydrated. Taking a shower or using the sink counts towards this need.
Your need for hunger is also modified. Instead of eating food, you now have to go outside to bask in the sun. You will soon feel energized and ready to face the day in the sun. The rest of your needs will work as usual.
3 Plant Sims can communicate with plants
Sometimes a Sim can be so focused on finding their ideal career or building their dream home that they don’t have time to socialize with their friends. Luckily, Plant Sims have a great alternative to regular friendships. Just by talking to plants you will increase your social need bar. It works as effectively as conversing with a real person.
Alternatively, you can also absorb solar energy from plants to quickly refresh your hunger. Your Plant Sim will shine while doing this. Absorbing energy this way will suppress the plant. Don’t worry, it will grow back slowly.
2 Your time as a plant simulator is limited
Unlike other Sims games, being a Plant Sim is only a temporary state. You will only have five days as a Plant Sim. Once those days are up, you will return to being a normal Sim. Eat another forbidden fruit and you can change for another five days.
There are many ways for your Sims to die in this game, and as a Plant Sim you now have a new way to perish. If you don’t drink or wash in water, you will become parched. Your hair will turn gray when you start to fade. If you don’t get out within 24 hours, you will completely fade. There will be a countdown warns youbut your Sim will suddenly collapse and die if you ignore it. Be careful!
1 There is an alternative DLC to look like a plant simulator
Many game packs are available for The Sims 4, from major updates to minor additions to your game. the Sims 4: Cool Kitchen Tricks Paid DLC, you access a ice cream machine. With level eight kitchen you can make Plant Matter ice cream. This will give you the cosmetic appearance of a Plant Simbut you won’t have unique needs, like having to be in the sun.
Your Sim will be in the mood to hang out during this state, but he is just a brief appearance for your Sims. It’s not quite like the actual transformation, just a quick alternative to try.
