One of the more subtle additions to the regular game mechanics is the companion of fate. Each werewolf has only one true companion – and fate is hard to defy. Start finding your Fated Mate with this handy guide!

What is a destined mate

Simply put, your Fated Mate is your true werewolf love. Your mate is chosen by fate itself – in other words, it’s chosen at random – and you will never be affected a Fated Mate for the lifetime of your Werewolf Sim.

More information on this adorable addition to The Sims romance mechanic can be found if you have the Scavenger unlocked ability in your werewolf skill tree. With Scavenger equipped, your Sim will be able to dig up The diary of Greggorius Lunvik anywhere in Moonwood Mill.

A quick glance at the tome will reveal valuable traditions and secrets regarding the town’s fur-clad inhabitants, including details of how the diary’s now-jaded, exiled author once had his own companion, Avelina.

How to Find Your Destiny Companion in The Sims 4 Werewolves

  • First, become a werewolf. Only werewolves can be assigned a Fated Mate, so make sure your Sim has endured at least one Full Moon Rampage before trying to flirt with the neighbors.
  • Flirt with everyone! Don’t be shy – to find your mate, you’ll have to flirt with all the werewolf Sims in town. You never know what fate has in store for you; Young adult Sims fall for older Sims all the time, so expect the unexpected and only flirt with Sims you wouldn’t mind having as your Destiny mate.
  • Watch out for a purple notification box! Successfully flirting with your Fated Mate will trigger a purple event box to appear in the upper right corner of your screen. This notification will confirm your companion’s name next to their icon, as shown in your friends list. When you click on that Sim’s icon in your friends list and check your relationship with them, there should be a Destiny’s Companions Icon of two conjoined hearts right up there.
  • Build that loving relationship. You and your destiny mate will find that falling in love is all too easy, as romantic advances become much more successful and dates are nearly impossible to mess up. Congratulation! Destiny (or RNG) has spoken!

Can you cheat Destiny?

If your werewolf Sim is already happy with a non-werewolf, you don’t have to worry. Until your wolf Sim flirts with every member of his pack, he’s unlikely to be turned to his partner’s side by the tempting hand of fate.

But fate is not almighty in The Sims 4. After all, you are supposed to be the divine figure here, right? Even if your Sim has a destiny companion assigned to them, you can still pursue romantic relationships with other Sims.

There are many reasons why you might not want to be with your Fated Mate. Maybe it’s your most hated rival, or maybe – sniff – your Fated Mate is unfortunately deceased. Whatever it is that makes you want to rebel against fate, you can still make love to other Sims.

However, the trade-off is that you will receive a Tense moodlet for a certain number of hours after flirting with someone else. Denying fate isn’t an easy thing to do, but if you’re willing to put up with the erratic mood swings involved, it might be worth it.
