Why bother making the sim-next-door fall in love with you when you can just put in a cheat code?
It is well known that The Sims 4 is full of cheats covering all sorts of things. Along with getting unlimited money, Sims relationship cheats are some of the most popular. These cheats allow you to instantly change the relationship between any two sims; either for better or for worse.
You can maximize a relationship or make two sims mortal enemies. It is entirely up to you. Here’s everything you need to know about using relationship cheats in The Sims 4.

First, you need to show the cheat code console box. If you’re playing The Sims 4 on PC, you need to press Control, Shift and C the same time. On Xbox One or PS4, you must press all four triggers/shoulder buttons immediately.
Once the console box is there, it’s a simple matter of typing in your cheat. Regardless of the relationship you want to change, all the tips follow the same formula, which is as follows:
modify the relationship [sim 1’s first name] [sim 1’s last name] [sim 2’s first name] [sim 2’s last name] [# of relationship strength] [relationship type]
It sounds quite complicated, but it breaks down quite easily.
For ‘# of relational strength’, you will need a numeric value. In The Sims 4, a ‘0’ relation is neutral. 100 is the maximum positive relationship two sims can have, while -100 is the maximum they can possibly hate each other.
There are two main types of relationships, and an additional one if you have the Cats and Dogs extension. These are:
- LTR_Friendship_Mainwhich refers to a normal friendship between two sims
- LTR_Romance_Mainwhich is a romantic relationship between two sims
- LTR_SimtoPet_Friendship_Mainwhich is a relationship between a sim and a pet (you’ll need the Cats and Dogs expansion for this one)
So let’s take a few examples. Let’s say you have two sims called Anna Banjo and Doug Glass. They just met, so their relationship is currently at ‘0’. You want them to fall in love. In the cheat console box, you need to type:
edit relationship Anna Banjo Doug Glass 100 LTR_Romance_Main
If the same two Sims currently hate each other (i.e. their relationship is already at -100), but you want them to be best friends, you would type:
edit relationship Anna Banjo Doug Glass 200 LTR_Friendship_Main
