2022 LAHS graduates Olivia Bell and Wayne Williams receive Jim Sims Memorial Engineering Scholarship – Los Alamos Reporter

The 2022 Jim Sims Memorial Engineering Fellowship has been awarded to Olivia Bell and Wayne Williams. The scholarship was created to honor Jim Sims, longtime Los Alamos resident and LANL engineer.

Sims worked for 34 years at Los Alamos National Laboratory as a design engineer and leader of project engineering teams. He was a gifted mechanical engineer with a distinguished career, essential to the success of highly visible programs that enhanced the scientific and technical reputation of the Laboratory. Sims is also committed to mentoring young engineers, designers and students, generously sharing his knowledge and experience.

Olivia Bell is the daughter of Kirsten and Neil Bell. She will attend the University of California, Davis to study civil engineering. Wayne Williams is the son of Matthew Williams and Lian Williams. He will attend Texas A&M University in the fall where he will major in aerospace engineering.

The Jim Sims Memorial Engineering Scholarship is administered by the Los Alamos Public Schools Foundation, an independent organization that serves as a link between our community and the school district, assessing needs and investing resources to improve the quality of public education. in our community.
